I Got Led

ASTRAY

when answering a recent correspondence. My theme was basic enough to be entirely self-obvious, but wasn’t understood—

“YOU ONLY OWN

THAT WHICH YOU CAN HOLD

AGAINST ALL COMERS”

—and honestly, what is there to be misunderstood here? Of course my correspondent was up to her ears in PC and lifelong indoctrination.

Sadly it’s one of those notions that you either ‘get’ or you don’t—

might makes right 1.gif

—so I referred her to ’eminent domain’. She hasn’t mentioned it since. Must’ve forgotten.

Then again it might be my method. Rather than drag up the tired old ‘boiling frog’ I often prefer to use the ‘three blind men describing an elephant’ analogy (and even then folks get miffed thinking I’ve called them blind).

SO IN MORE SIMPLE TERMS

YOU ONLY OWN THAT

WHICH YOU CAN HOLD

BY FORCE

(AGAINST ANY WOULD-BE TAKERS)

AND now, giving you right of reply: take me up on it …

… if you dare.

Remember always, that any folks babbling ‘the pen is mightier than the sword” are demonstrating their (wishful) grasp on Reality. (CLUE: I’d match a single samurai sword against any number of Parkers, Osmiroids, Schaeffers, Bics etc any day.)

I especially love this (below) masterpiece of “Get me off the hook!” panicking ancient salesmanship. History may be bunk, but by the gods we can learn from it. (We can, note—I didn’t say we do.)

Yeah, sure. I believe you …
