where I’m going wrong!
I was wandering through some guff and stuff and happened across Poe’s Law, which I promptly pulled in and shall now quote from—
Avoid sarcasm and facetious remarks.
Without the voice inflection and body language of personal communication these are easily misinterpreted. A sideways smile, :-), has become widely accepted on the net as an indication that “I’m only kidding”. If you submit a satiric item without this symbol, no matter how obvious the satire is to you, do not be surprised if people take it seriously.

Bugger. I always assumed (ingratiating grin) that my readership (beaming smile) was intelligent enough (look of admiration, open mouthed) to see the obvious for themselves without me having to post signs (look of benign query) and ’emoticons’.
Stuff it—I’ll carry on as per usual and devil take the hindmost.
It’s a personality thing, dammit.
And I am NOT “only kidding” … actually, I want people to take my sarcasms and caustic satires seriously—if you need a label to divine my drift then as a scribe I have failed.
